A Republican from Florida officially noted in U.S. Congress a portable computer belonging to the president’s controversial son on March 29.
Rep. Matt Gaetz confirmed the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop have successfully been entered into the congressional record. The device’s data storage module is widely reported to contain evidence that questions whether the president profited from his son’s illegally obtained foreign funds.
“Moments ago, I successfully entered the hard drive of Hunter Biden’s laptop into the congressional record, [so let us] subpoena Hunter Biden,” the congressman said on Twitter.

Political writer Peter Schweizer earlier suggested Joe Biden should also be implicated during investigations into whether his son, Hunter, concealed the origins of illegally obtained foreign funds.
“This is not just a Hunter Biden story … and what the laptop reveals is that Hunter Biden received these funds but the president of the United States, Joe Biden, was a recipient and a beneficiary of those funds [too,]” he previously said.
The author of “Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win” suspects the pair’s finances are intertwined, and the son used some of the money to pay monthly bills and home repair expenses.
“Hunter Biden and Joe Biden had intermingled finances … so this is a story that goes straight to the president and each of these countries, particularly China, has a policy of using commercial ties, financial ties, as leverage over foreign elites–and they clearly have that in this case with Joe Biden,” he said.
He also claimed the funds came from three sources: Ukraine, Russia, and China.
